| Abstract | The graphomotor self-concept is a rarely researched subdomain of the academic self-concept, even though graphomotor activities constitute a significant proportion of learning in early school years. The objective of the present study was to develop and psychometrically evaluate a questionnaire for assessing the graphomotor self-concept in children of early school age. The investigation involved the analysis of a sample of 1,091 students, with the key quality criteria (objectivity, reliability, validity) being the primary focus of the analysis. Furthermore, the structure of the self-concept was analyzed in accordance with the multidimensional, hierarchical model proposed by Shavelson et al. (1976). The findings demonstrate the psychometric quality of the developed instrument and indicate that even young schoolchildren possess the capacity to assess their graphomotor skills in a differentiated manner. Moreover, the findings confirm that the structure of self-concept is already multidimensional and hierarchical during early school age. (ZPID). |
