| Abstract | Standardized diagnostics serve to ensure the quality of the assessment procedure for identifying special educational needs. This raises the question of whether the test procedures recommended and used in assessment practice meet the usual psychometric standards. How should the quality of these procedures be assessed and are there differences in the rating? This is examined on the basis of 34 recommended and 12 actually used test procedures from 20 special educational assessments for five special educational needs ? learning, intellectual development, language, emotional and social development and autism. In particular, weaknesses in reliability and standardization are identified as a result of outdated norms in many of the test under scrutiny. Thus, there seems to be a need for a bundle of further activities of test development to increase the quality of assessment procedures for identifying special educational needs. (ZPID). |
