| Abstract | Positive Behaviour Support (PVS) is a demonstrably effective concept for dealing with challenging behaviour in people on the autism spectrum. It is therefore held in high regard in several Western industrialised nations (e.g. USA, Canada, UK, Australia). This article outlines the main features and steps of the of the PVU. Firstly, the understanding of autism and challenging behaviour is addressed so that an understanding, functional view of the problem can be developed in the sense of PVU. The PVU concept covers three stages of prevention and intervention, which are briefly explained. The PVU focusses on context-related measures, which ultimately leads to an improvement in quality of life and support services for "living with autism". (translated by DeepL). (ZPID). |
