Abstract	Examined the effect of TARGET, a classroom-structuring framework aiming to foster a mastery goal orientation (MGO) in students. The impact of all of TARGET's six instructional dimensions (task, authority, recognition, grouping, evaluation, time) on MGO was assessed in a longitudinal study with 1,680 secondary school students aged 10-13 years at Wave 1. All students judged their own MGO, as well as their classroom environment with respect to TARGET's six dimensions in questionnaires. Results of confirmatory factor analyses show the existence of one latent factor TARGET comprising the six proposed dimensions. Moreover, a positive relationship between student MGO and perception of the TARGET framework was found, and the framework was found to predict student's MGO over time. It is concluded that TARGET has a positive impact on student mastery goal orientations. Practical implications are discussed. (ZPID).
