Abstract	Developed and tested a computer-based training intervention to foster precursors of evaluativist epistemological understanding and intellectual values. 66 high school students were randomly divided into either an experimental group or a control group. Experimental subjects completed the newly designed training intervention while controls completed a learning program of similar length, but without reference to argumentative thinking, epistemological understanding, or intellectual values. All subjects then viewed videos regarding an ecological problem with conflicting scientific positions, Subjects were assessed for epistemic orientation and intellectual values pretraining and one week posttraining. Results demonstrated that the intervention significantly increased epistemic orientation, the application of evaluativist knowledge, and conceptual knowledge, and these benefits were still evident one week later. It is concluded that the proposed training program appears effective. (ZPID).
