(DIPF/Orig.). In recent years, ESD has been systematically integrated into the Swiss education system and thus also into teacher education. A monitoring procedure from 2023 analyses how ESD has been implemented within teacher education institutions at the level of teaching as well as in research and development. Despite progress, there are still gaps regarding courses for lower and upper secondary education (including vocational schools) and the implementation of learning progression. The results are based on self-assessments by 95 percent of all Swiss teacher education institutions and highlight the need for further professionalisation, conceptual clarification, and research - also in international comparison.
