Abstract | Provides an overview and a comparison of Montessori education and the Reggio Emilia approach. Considers historical origins, foundational philosophical premises, and concepts about child development and learning of these two approaches. Compares their organization for decision-making about environment, curriculum, instructional methods, observation, assessment, and teacher preparation. Concludes that although the two approaches are similar in many respects, they have many differences regarding principle and strategy. (KB) |
