Abstract	The document presents an overview of the Human Development Program in terms of its theoretical rationale, objectives, structure, process, and content. The Human Development Program (HDP) emphasizes an affective curricular approach developed by psychologists. The booklet describes how elementary school teachers can help children assume responsibility and build self-confidence. The booklet is presented in 10 major sections. Section I explains the program objective of providing affective experiences to students through a series of sequentially developed topics. Section II lists topics relating to awareness of one's feelings, self-confidence, and social interaction. Sections III and IV explain the teacher's role and techniques to be used by the teacher in evaluating student progress. Section V relates methods for setting up HDP in a self-contained classroom. Section VI discusses the importance of parental and community involvement in HDP. Sections VII and VIII present reviews of affective learning literature and HDP materials. Section IX discusses HDP teacher training workshops and is followed by identification of additional information sources for teachers in section X. The appendix, which constitutes the bulk of the document, presents three units from HDP activity guides for grades K-6, topics for discussion, an HDP rating scale, and the transcript of an HDP classroom activity.
