Abstract | The following report deals with the present state of development of bilingual school projects in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is based on the results of an inquiry which the publishers of this journal directed to all Regional Ministries of Education in the F.R.G. The answers reflect the different levels of development and interpretation of context, strongly varying from each Federal state to the other. The aim of the article is to present the existing organizational forms and scope of conditions of bilingual school projects in the F.R.G. and to demonstrate the divergencies which exist amongst the individual Federal states. At the same time intends to give a survey on the initiatives, partly pointing into very different directions, in order to introduce bilingual education into the curriculum of German schools.
