Abstract	The article delineates and critically analyses the organisational framework of the Romanian primary education system and the training of primary school teachers. It provides a comprehensive overview of the contemporary state of primary schools and teacher training, while also presenting their historical background and development. This serves to contextualize the current structures and challenges, facilitating a nuanced understanding of the educational landscape. Notably, the article emphasizes the inclusion of linguistic minorities and the post-communist social formation within which the education system operates, highlighting their significance as distinctive characteristics in Europe. The article concludes with an outline of the structural reforms currently being implemented in the education system and primary school teacher training. (DIPF/Orig.).
