AbstractIn this chapter the authors give a detailed description of a practical workshop for primary age students. The rationale combines a desire to explore the work of Janacek, who holds a prominent place in the musical culture of Czechia, as well as the music curriculum for schools; and the enduring influence of the writings of Comenius. The pedagogy of Orff-Schulwerk and Comenius are both invoked in the activities which encourage exploration and creative music making. This article is part of the anthology European Perspectives on Music Education, Volume 13, addresses topics such as inclusive practices, the role of technology, and teacher education. (DIPF/Orig.).
