The present work shows the significance, limits and potentials of subject-related somatic, emotional and reflexive methods in the context of transformative (geographical) education. Based on an iceberg model describing the four divides from nature, relationships, emotions/body and identity (Sieben 2021), the consequences of (small-t) trauma and separation are presented as the core problem for society as a whole and in the context of school education. The target knowledge shows the necessity of a holistic perspective on learning (holistic education) and the world (holistic worldview) on the one hand, and the radical observance of planetary boundaries and the implementation of sufficient lifestyles on the other as basic framework conditions for a holistic transformative education. Based on the somatic learning model according to Horst (2007), significant connections between central concepts of cultural geography (emotional geographies, body as place, sense of place, etc.) and kinesthetic, sensory, affective, spiritual learning, cognition, dialog and reflection are demonstrated. As part of the two-stage empirical process, the training program "moving methods" was developed for geography teachers in a transdisciplinary collaboration. Group discussions and a questionnaire were used to elicit the effectiveness of the exercises on the participating teachers as well as their assessment of feasibility, obstacles and potentials in the context of transformative (geographical) education. Council practice and Transition Theater exercises proved to be particularly suitable for classroom use and rich in their potential for transformative learning. The implementation of exercises from wilderness education, deep ecology and permaculture practice was partly rated as more difficult due to limited local prerequisites and the lack of skills or application examples. In-depth training for the teachers would have been necessary in order to make participants deeply aware of the approaches´ underlying potential. The reflection leads to the drafting of "core routines for transformative education", which contain the potential to regularly and easily integrate the body, feelings, nature and interconnectedness into everyday school practice.
