| Abstract | Investigated how the design of multimedia learning environments affects the use of learning aids. 60 college students performed a computer-based learning task with learning aids presented either dynamically, statically, or available through a single click. In addition, presentations varied as to the availability, or lack of, self-monitoring questions. Learning activity actions and eye movements during the task were recorded. Results showed that subjects most often used dynamically presented learning aids, followed by statically presented aids. Aids available through a click were used the least often. Availability of self-monitoring questions was not found to have any effect on learning aid use. In conclusion, results support that learning aid use in a computerized environment is best supported by a readily visible and dynamic presentation. (ZPID). |
