| Abstract | Tested an online intervention using visual feedback for reduction of procrastination behaviors related to medical study learning. Two studies with a total sample of 67 medical students were performed. Students completed an online planning and reflection tool once weekly for seven weeks. Students were randomly assigned either a visualization or nonvisualization feedback condition. Visual feedback was pictured with a dynamic line chart colored in green, yellow, or red, based on responses. Additional assessments included the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ), items from the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ), and questions regarding learning outcomes. Results showed that the students who received a visual display reported decreased procrastination in the following periods. Results further suggest that visualization was linked to lower stress levels and increased both cognitive and metacognitive learning strategies. In summary, findings support the use of visual feedback in interventions designed to lessen procrastination and improve self-regulated learning. (ZPID). |
