Abstract	This compelling new book examines the harmful impacts of job insecurity in higher education through multicultural and cross-country analyses. The editors and contributors study this phenomenon across a large range of occupations and in 10 countries across the world. By drawing attention to the crisis, the book stimulates future research and highlights the need for intervention measures. It addresses issues such as the relation between job security and mental wellbeing, between academic performance and work stress, financial distress, and the health effects of burnout. It also discusses how job insecurity in higher education is detrimental to staff, researchers and students, who may have outstanding loans that they are unable to easily repay.
