| Abstract | This study examines the portrayal of Chinese international universities in Europe as presented in the European and Chinese media. Based on a comparative analysis of 104 news reports, the role of the media in shaping European-Chinese university cooperation will be examined. The results show that Fudan University in Budapest (Hungary) was primarily portrayed as a political project characterized by a conflict framework; the campus of Peking University's HSBC Business School in the UK was predominantly portrayed as a business project outlined by an economic framework; and Tongji University in Florence (Italy) was largely described as an educational and cultural project characterized by a framework of human interest. The study highlights the different ways in which Chinese international universities are portrayed in the media and provides insights for researchers and practitioners to better understand intercultural issues, public opinion, and the role of the media in international programs and provider mobility.
