Abstract | The purpose is to explore how new and in-service teachers are made aware of risk and what has been done to address risk in various pedagogical resources. Risk is ever-present in life and must be acknowledged via risk assessment, managed and reduced in an informed and measured manner. The Ontario (Canada) Ministry of Education believes students need to participate in a physical environment where there is inherent risk and the Ontario Health, and Physical Education (2019) curriculum guide for educators mentions risk 320 times from kindergarten to grade eight. Results determined that risk is manipulated not only by the absence of problems but by the presence of a safe environment that contributes to healthy growth and development which can be developed and maintained by knowledgeable educators.
