Abstract | This article wants to give insights into the young discussions on the topic of cultural appropriation in music education and at the same time work out claims in music education. At first, various perspectives and definitional approaches outside of music education discourse will be outlined. This will be followed by music pedagogical considerations and a discussion of possible points of criticism of cultural appropriation in musical artifacts, which will be concretized by music-historical examples. At the same time, theoretical and practical limits of the current discussion about cultural appropriation and music education are pointed out. The topic "Africa in Music Education" is used as an example to discuss possible claims in music education. The conclusion finally comes to an evaluation of the possible claims on music education in the context of the discussion on cultural appropriation. (Orig.). |
