Abstract	The "Münchner Modell der Früherkennung und Frühen Hilfen für psychosozial hoch belastete Familien" offers preventive support to families with children up to three years whose situation could lead to neglect or maltreatment of their child. To run this project, the city of Munich recruited specialized social workers who may visit the families visit up to three months to offer practical help and counseling. The evaluation of this assistance program was from May, 2009 to February, 2010 and examined the quality of the case management, the cooperation of the social workers with other institutions and the satisfaction of the parents. The survey is based on questionnaires. The results show that the parents interact at the end of the assistance more sensitive with their children and that their psychosocial functioning is significantly higher than at the beginning of the help. Factors which raise the risk for maltreatment and neglect could be reduced significantly. Support was offered specifically and adequate to the extent of the burden/stress. The social workers often co-operated with other institutions and were mostly contented with the quality of the cooperation. The parents stated a high satisfaction with the support. (Orig.).
