Abstract | This book provides an overview of a wide range of analytic methods for longitudinal studies, from simple two-wave analyses to a selection of the most sophisticated approaches. It starts with information on publicly available longitudinal data sets probably useful for researchers in aging, health, and the social sciences. Chapter 2 is dedicated to sampling design and adjustments. Chapter 3 deals with missing data and attrition. Chapter 4 focuses on measurement issues, and validity problems over time. Chapter 5 introduces analysis of variance and regression, and other traditional analyses. Chapter 6 informs about mediation analysis and causal processes. Chapter 7 discusses growth curve models using multilevel regression. Chapters 8 and 9 discuss the investigation on longitudinal hypotheses using the structural equation modeling approach. Chapter 10 discusses dynamic structural equation models of change on latent difference scores. The final chapter gives an overview on different approaches on event history analysis. (ICF). |
