Abstract	"Seit PISA 2000 wendet sich die Forschung verstärkt der Frage zu, woraus die Unterschiede in der Lesekompetenz resultieren. Als mögliche Ursachen gelten differenziell ausgeprägte Lesemotivation und -aktivitäten. Diese zwei Variablen unterliegen zu Beginn der Jugend einem Wandel, und es ist wahrscheinlich, dass peers einen Einfluss darauf haben. Vermutlich gibt es zwei Einflussdynamiken: Zum einen könnten peers den Rückgang der Lesemotivation und des -verhaltens vermindern, zum anderen beschleunigen. Der Relevanz von peers in der Lesesozialisation geht Aufsatz nach. Er beginnt mit einer Übersicht über theoretische Vermutungen, der zweite Teil präsentiert empirische Befunde. Forschungsperspektiven werden am Ende skizziert." (Autorenreferat). "Concerning the reasons of differences in reading literacy much effort in the research has been spent since the results of the first PISA study were published in 2001. One of the reasons might be differences in reading motivation and behaviour. Results from the biographical reading research show that both, reading motivation and activities, change when children become adolescents and peer influence increases. Little is known about the role of peers in the reading socialisation, but there are two possible directions of peer influence in adolescence. On the one hand, they might protect from the decline of reading motivation and activities. On the other hand, they also could foster the decrease. In this article the relevance of peers for reading careers is discussed. It starts with theoretical considerations about positive and negative peer influence; empirical evidence follows in second part. Research perspectives will be sketched at the end."
