| Abstract | [This] special issue of the Journal... on the work that Bourdieu's theoretical framework, methodological approach and later more polemical texts about the negative effects of globalization, read as simply neo-liberalism, can be very useful for the study of educational policy and its processes. This is ably demonstrated in the papers published here. The lack of application of Bourdieu to educational policy in a globalizing context is surprising, given the uptake of his work in other areas of the social sciences. ... This collection of papers demonstrates that Bourdieu's work provides a fertile field for tilling in policy sociology in education. The papers collected have begun to show the potential for the application of the concepts of social field, habitus, capitals and strategy to educational policy studies.(DIPF/orig.). |
