Abstract	Helfen und kontrollieren sind bedeutsame Aufgaben sozialpädagogischer Fachkräfte der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe nicht nur, aber auch in der Kinderschutzarbeit. Wurde dieses Spannungsverhältnis lange ambivalent als "doppeltes Mandat" oder notwendiges Übel begriffen und erlebt, so wird hier für eine produktive Balance plädiert, in der Kontrolle als notwendiges Element sozialstaatlicher Leistungen gestaltet wird. Zu ihr gehören vor allem eine Kontrolle der Kontrollierenden sowie eine strukturelle Absicherung und methodische Gestaltung transparenter und für Eltern kontrollierbarer Kontrollaufgaben im Kinderschutz. Helping and controlling are important tasks of child and youth work professionals, which not only applies to child protection work. While this area of tension has long been understood and experienced as an ambivalence, a ¿two-fold mandate" or a necessary evil, the author argues for a productive balance in which control is enacted as a necessary element of welfare state benefits. This includes most notably that supervisors are controlled, too. Additionally, transparent measures of control in child protection which are readily comprehensable to parents must be secured structurally and be designed methodically.
