Abstract	The projects described in this booklet represent just a sample of the results - around 2500 young people were able to undertake voluntary service in another country under the pilot Action of the EVS during 1996 to 1998. In order to make a publication which is concise and interesting, we have created a booklet illustating the projects of the European Voluntary Service Pilot Action by giving a selection of projects rather than a complete register. Different types of projects are included in this booklet. We have tried to present a selection which provides a representative picture of the projects cofinanced through the Pilot Action. As well as the bilateral projects - which represent the largest group - there are also descriptions of multilateral projects and "Flagship projects" including several partners in European countries. Both multilateral and Flagship projects have proved to be valuable sources of in-depth experiences in the field. Last but not least, the third country projects described offer a view beyond the borders of the EU. (DIPF/orig.).
