Abstract	Two years ago COMPARE-TE Network published a major book on "Current Changes and Callenges in European Teacher-Education" which contained up-to-date reports on teacher education in 21 countries in Western and Eastern Europe. Since then some members of the Network were involved in producing and publishing another study on the state and fundamental problems of teacher-education in the 15 Member States of the European Union (SIGMA pilot project "Teacher-Education in Europe. Evaluation and Perspectives"). Evidently both books catered for a need since standard textbooks and encyclopedia in the field of Comparative Education handly ever contain the detailed and problem-oriented material teacher-educators and students would be looking for. However, the Network does not want ist research work to end there. Members have decided to continue and expand the scope of studies in two ways: a) by organising bilateral research symposia focusing on problems of teacher education policy in the 90s and on comparative methods, b) by editing a series of country reports on current changes and challenges in teacher education: by continuing to publish Yearbooks on current problems in teacher education. It is intended to make available reports not only for each Member State but beyond that for European countries not or not yet being members of the European Union.
