Abstract	The present document contains an overview of Community-level and bilateral cooperation activities in the field of education and training between the European Union on the one hand and the Central and Eastern European Countries and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union on the other.... Phase I of this survey concerned actions at Community and bilateral level designed to enhance cooperation with the Russian Federation and was carried out specifically in the context of the preparations for the gathering of the Education Ministers of the EU Member States and the newly acceding countries with their counterparts from the Russian Federation, in St. Petersburg in September 1994.... Phase II of the survey concerned actions for the support of collaboration with the other New Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union and all other Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC). The results of both phases, with a comprehensive survey of Community activities in respect of the NIS and the CEEC, are drawn together in the present study. (DIPF/orig.).
