Abstract	The archicommandery Alden Biesen is a castle built by the German order. Nowadays it is a cultural centre of the Flemish Community. Situated in the rural town Bilzen, in the province of Limburg (Belgium), it is close to the Dutch border. European classes: 4 secondary schools from different member states each send twelve 17 or 18-year- old pupils and two teachers to take part in international project weeks. The pupils give lectures, discuss in mixed groups and play a roleplaying game: the Council of Ministers. The two working languages have to be determined beforehand. During the meetings pupils cannot use their mother tongue. Workshops and visits to the European institutions in Brussels and to the interesting sights in the region are included. The weeks are on in October, November and February. International meeting sessions: For heads and teachers from home and abroad, seminars about exchange projects are organised.
