Abstract | Since their creation in 1996, a good deal has been written about the ISLLC Standards for School Leaders. Over the same 20-year period, however, a relatively small amount of scholarship on the standards has been produced. More specifically, almost no empirical research exists that explores the impact of the standards on state policy. Since we hypothesize that such effects mediate more distal outcomes, we find this to be a particularly troublesome void. The purpose of this article is to begin to address this problem. Specifically, we track the extent and depth of the standards across the state policy landscape. |
