AbstractDeveloping a scholarly, professional identity is one of the most difficult aspects of entering the field of higher education and teacher preparation. In this article, the authors describe the birth and success of Association of Teacher Educators' (ATE) Emerging Scholars program, a new program designed to help graduate students and those new to teacher education develop a voice in the profession through research and publication. Following a historical snapshot of ATE, the authors describe ways that ATE supports those who are new to the teacher education profession. With the Emerging Scholars program, the formation of professional networks, and opportunities to publish in scholarly journals, ATE upholds a longstanding commitment to growing future generations of teacher educators.
