Abstract | The main aim of the current study was to assess the level of the emotional intelligence (EI) of high school teachers in Karak district of Jordan. A sample of 222 teachers was randomly selected and filtered on the basis of an inconsistency index. A scale of 55 items measuring empathy, emotions regulation, interpersonal management, self management, and adaptability was applied. Both exploratory and inferential statistical analyses indicate female teachers exhibit higher levels of interpersonal management than their male counterparts. On the other hand, male teachers were better on adaptability and emotions regulation components. An interaction between gender and education background were found to be significant on all components of the emotional intelligence. (Contains 5 tables and 1 footnote.) (As Provided). |
