AbstractWeb accessibility for everyone. This concept drove lawmakers in 1998 to undertake Section 508 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act. In this directive, all possible measures were to be taken by federal agencies to ensure everyone, regardless of physical or technical challenge, would be able to access the Internet and retrieve information by 2001. In 2000, Kentucky SB 315/HCS added sections 26-30, to KRS Chapter 61 in an effort to support Section 508 compliance. Under this ruling, all federal agencies, those solely or partially funded, would be subject to compliance with disabilities access. There are 16 guidelines to follow in Section 508 (http://www.section508.gov). A list of these guidelines is presented. In order to gain a better understanding of Section 508 compliance among government agencies, publicly accessible web pages from Morehead State University faculty (N=32), public school districts (N=171), and teacher web pages (N=65), were analyzed for accessibility from August 2006 to December 2007. Findings of this study are also discussed. (ERIC).
