Abstract | Women education has been a global issue for decades now. It is therefore appropriate to occasionally find out the situation. This study, which is a comparative analysis of the representation of females in the Faculties of Engineering and Law in University of Benin, was therefore meant to address the issue. Relevant literatures were reviewed. Research questions were raised to guide the study. The entire population of graduands in the Faculties of Engineering and Law for the period 1995/96, 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99, 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 formed the sample of the study. The number and sex of graduands in the brochures provided the data that answered the research questions. The study prima facie revealed an arid female representation of graduates in the Faculty of Engineering during the period under study. Also revealed is that most graduands women inclusive clustered around second-class category. Among the recommendations made was that non-governmental organizations may help by providing chemicals and other facilities required in the laboratories for the teaching of sciences at the pre-tertiary level in order to build scientific capacity for science courses.
