| Abstract | The performance and attrition levels of two sets of African American college students were analyzed to understand the influence of minority groups in persisting with college as a test of Ogbu's cultural-ecological model. It was observed that voluntary immigrant group students stayed in college much longer than the involuntary immigrants group students and their performance levels were higher and predictable.
