Abstract | Takes a close look at the word "equality" as it is used in current scholarship in composition studies. Argues that the almost reflexive employment of it in pedagogical contexts helps ensure that schools will continue to be sites for the reproduction of the very ideology that prevents any kind of equality in the first place.
