Abstract | Results of recent studies of teachers' skills are discussed in the areas of: (1) reading and writing at the postsecondary level; (2) education majors' reading competencies; and (3) reading competencies of practicing teachers. The effects of competency-based teacher certification tests for basic skills proficiency in 14 states are reviewed. (FG) |
