AbstractThis study identified a variety of strategies that facilitate the participation and interaction of d/Deaf and hard of hearing students in the general education classroom at a public elementary school. In addition, it identified the issues that limit the participation of those students. Particularly, the study focused on describing factors related to general education teachers, sign language interpreter and d/Deaf and hard of hearing students, and hearing students, in order to develop a practical framework for assist students with hearing impairment to gain more social and communication skills. The data were collected through interviews and classroom observation. The finding indicates that d/Deaf and hard of hearing students face barriers that concern their participation and interaction in the general education classroom. Also, the findings identified specific strategies in order to facilitate the participation of d/Deaf and hard of hearing students in the general education classroom. (As Provided).
