Abstract | STEM Studio at Hofstra University is a clinical practice site that brings together public school pupils and preservice teachers in settings with three features that lead to enhanced learning of all participants: classroom structures using multidisciplinary STEM tasks as platforms for learning; design challenge templates for diverse student populations; and a just-in-time, multiple career stage professional learning community. STEM Studio pupils learn concepts at deeper levels, preservice teachers learn instructional strategies rooted in exemplary research-derived practices, and classroom teachers and professors generate new teaching and mentoring models based on pupil and preservice teacher feedback.
