Abstract | The study of Appropriate Instructional Practices (AIP) has investigated the knowledge of many different populations, parents, K-12 students, college students, physical education majors and others. This research has provided the foundation for other studies in AIP that examine and affirm the importance of AIP implementation in K-12 physical education (PE). The research in higher education physical activity (PA) courses is not as extensive as it has been in K-12 PE. For this reason, this study qualitatively investigated college PA instructor's knowledge and perceptions of AIP in their college activity classes. For this study, ten college PA instructors filled out an open-ended survey regarding their knowledge and perceptions of AIP in their teaching in their activity classes. It was generally learned that these college PA instructors know and implement AIPs in their activity classes. Additionally, half of the college PA instructors felt that competitive games and activities is an appropriate and main purpose of the classes. (Autor). |
