Abstract	The purpose of this study is to reveal the opinion of Bulgarian specialists on the subject of relevance of the existing methodology in Bulgaria for initial training and improvement of climbing as a sport. An inquiry was held with 19 coaches and instructors from 11 climbing clubs during the National Championship for children and youth in the town of Veliko Tarnovo. The replies confirm the fact that the foundation for high sports achievements lays in infant and early adolescence ages. There is a need a new methodology to be created for initial training and improvement of adolescents climbers that is adequate to the contemporary needs of the sport and competition climbing.
