Abstract | The ability to speak and understand as many languages as possible would be a huge advantage for our children and their future's. Teaching a foreign language is not always easy; countless new methods and tools have been devised which have tried to show teachers how to do this most effectively. One of these new tools is the "European Language Portfolio (ELP)". Special focus in this thesis is set on two aspects of the ELP. One is self-assessment, because children should be aware of their own personal strengths and weakness when working with English, or any other foreign language.
