Abstract | In the beginning of her teaching career, the author was given a scruffy-looking raven-puppet by a friend: "Here, try this! The kids will love it!" The teacher was not too sure what to make of this; however, after her first lesson with Rudy Raven she knew what the friend had meant. The children loved the hand puppet and she realised that the puppet was able to "teach" and, most of all, draw the children out of their shells much better than she was! It became clear to her that the use of a hand puppet was the best way to reach every single child in class, even the shy ones. Ever since then, the hand puppets Rudy and Ben have been the teacher's loyal assistants and the children's friends and allies. (Verlag, adapt). |
