Abstract | The author's article in Oxford Review 29 (2003) 2, pp. 139-163 provoked a rejoinder by a member of the OECD team (R. J. Adams) in the same journal 29 (2003) 3, pp. 377-390. The topic of the two articles was that the recent PISA study "put English pupils among the world's top performers in mathematics" whereas former studies (TIMMS) showed them as weak in mathematics. In this rejoinder the author now detects "some important points of agreement, and setting them out here may help better planning for future surveys." (DIPF/Bi.). |
