| Abstract | This study is based on experiments that show the importance of understanding how children picture the world around them. It discusses how these perceptions can be used to design efficient learning tools. The study was carried out in the framework of a child oriented interactive exhibition, the Cité des enfants at the Cité des Sciences ed de l'Industrie in Paris, France. The Cité des enfants is an opportunity for children aged three to 12 to discover science and understand techniques in action. Through experiments concerning the human body and, in particular, movement, we will see how our understanding of children's perceptions and references can help us identify certain manipulations that can be used to consolidate their scientific knowledge. This study is based on the analysis of what children imagine things are like and the impact current museologic approaches may have on their understanding. It examines how these pedagogical tools are designed and how they affect the learning processes of six-to- 12-year-olds. (Autorenreferat). |
