Abstract | The author analyses the problems of reforming the Polish education system which arose after the fall of Communism. Excitement and enthusiasm were followed by "very considerable confusion and uncertainty concerning the future course of events" and "serious differences of opinion" about the adequate policies. "Constant delays in reforming the national system of education" were to be observed. With reference to the reform of the school system "there were three main sources of ideas in which educational changes could be anchored: the different reformist programmes of political parties; the views of Polish educational experts; and the reports on Polish education presented by important international organisations", prominently those of OECD. These influences are described in the paper. Finally the author reports on a new attempt (1999) for educational reform. (DIPF/Bi.) |
