Abstract | "This article compares the educational experience of Zimbabwe and South Africa in the 2 years after those countries' first democratic elections. While Zimbabwe's educational change was characterized by a rapid expansion of service in response to popular demand, the emphasis in South Africa has been on policy-making processes with little change in the delivery of educational services." Particularly the author compares the colonial legacy of the two countries and the issues of equity and quality of services in the educational reform process. Finally, he tries to explain the reasons of the different approaches to educational change. (DIPF/Bi.) |
