Abstract | Case-based instruction (CBI) offers a promising method for promoting problem-solving skills in learners. However, during CBI, the instructor shoulders major responsibility for shaping the learning that takes place. Research indicates that the facilitation techniques used during case discussions influence what gets covered, and to what extent, during the learning experience. While Web 2.0 tools have great potential to assist with the facilitation process during problem-centered learning, little consideration has been given to the role these tools can play. Using a combined problem-solving model based on Choi and Lee's (2009) and Ertmer and Stepich's (2005) frameworks, this article considers how Web 2.0 tools can be used to facilitate the development of problem-solving skills in learners throughout the case-based learning process.
