Abstract | This critique of the recent government consultation document on initial teacher training is concerned with both curricular and managerial aspects of proposed reforms. The model of teaching and school partnerships fails to grasp teaching complexities, undermines possible contributions of schools and higher education institutions to initial professional formation, and ignores resource and other managerial implications.
