Abstract | Well over one million high school students drop out of U.S. high schools each year. The human and financial tolls are startling and cannot be sustained in an era when the country is looking for means to remain globally competitive. What would it take to dramatically reduce the problem? USC's Rossier School of Education helped found an independent charter high school in South Central Los Angeles with the potential to redefine the urban high school experience. Technology has been fundamental to the design and operation of the school. This article offers an early look at the school and its progress to date. (As Provided). |
