Abstract | America is heralded as the land of opportunity, and yet opportunities remain limited for hundreds of thousands of marginalized youth in the country. Nationally, students in K-12 education who are Black or Hispanic scored significantly lower, approximately 25-28% in both reading and math, than their White peers. The long-term effects of these gaps are also reflected in the retention rates of marginalized students in higher education, Six-year graduation rates are 63% for White students. |
