| Abstract | For emerging researchers, introductory content that is specific to the Aotearoa context can be hard to find. Research methods for education and the social disciplines in Aotearoa New Zealand draws on the thinking of numerous local researchers to deliver an overview and introduction to research methodology and methods, in a way that closely ties with contexts researchers will deal with in Aotearoa. While focused on education, social work, and counselling, the information in this book is applicable across all social science and professional contexts and highlights the importance of high quality, nuanced research to support a more equitable society in Aotearoa. This book is not intended as an in-depth technical textbook, but rather an accessible, broad-ranging catalyst of interest and thinking about how researchers operate in our country. It encourages emerging researchers to delve deeper into the world of research and provides practical applications of these methods interwoven with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, mātauranga Māori, and Māori and Pacific research methodologies. |
